Key Post 3

Key Post 3

With unit x coming to an end I can clearly say that I have really enjoy this year’s unit x. although throughout the unit I had felt many positive and some negative thoughts my experiences through this year’s unit x had been truly been unexpected.  Form this unit the one thing I have grown strong in is my confident. Confident was something that I have always been negative on however if I were to go into art and design teaching I mist definitely need to work on my confident. Which is exactly what this unit has helped me on my confident in talking in front of everyone and working in group sharing ideas has developed so much. A lot of my confident gained during my day in DACA till the end of my DACA workshop. DACA was an experience where I had discover what it is like when you are a teacher. I learnt the becoming a teacher comes with huge responsibility towards students and other faculty staff members, you have to have your very own stand throughout the years of teaching and developing to more experience. As I know DACA was mixed range of secondary and college students, through my week at DACA I was inspired from my own discovery on from how much I enjoyed working with secondary students more than college students. I believe the reason behind this is that I have always thought as secondary school student are more challenging and exciting to work with than college student. Through DACA I am definitely sure that college student have their own interest of how they would like they art to be where as secondary school students are all different age group which means to is the more range of students the more different creative art is produced.

From unit x I truly feel that I felt engaged in every workshop that I have participated was really useful to me and beneficial. However I feel that if I come to the workshop that I have missed I would have known more about educational students with disability more. This is because whilst I was in Daca I did feel the teacher concern over the student with disabilities. I guess this really important in teaching as a teacher should know what and how to handle student with disabilities, I truly feel that myself not being part of these workshop have made a effect on my unit x.

From the entire Unit x I feel that I have mostly achieved in my learning outcome from the unit x show case event and my favourite the micro teaching session. Although my micro teaching session outcome was with mixed reviews I am strongly to say that I have achieved the learning outcome through micro teaching. This session helped come across own how to deliver a workshop, what are my aim and learning outcomes are and most importantly how teaching a workshop would always be lessened planned and fully prepared. However I enjoyed the unit x show case event more the reason for this is because I thoroughly enjoyed all the hard work from all of the mmu students. Although we were two different groups the idea of sharing our ideas and voting on every discussion and decision we made having to combine our final outcome together for the event went really well and strong. Overall the show case event really well we got good feedback from what you think of unit x and y. If I were to do unit x again I would definitely be more organized in turning to all of the workshops and show development of my confident through expressing my though and ideas.

Today was the big day, MMU students delivery mark making workshop to DACA day. All the mmu student had arrived early to Darwen. I felt that that we all were really good with punctuality in time management. well has the day began for our workshop all of my group were ready and set will all the resource we need to for our mistake workshop.

resources my groups mistakes mark and making workshop.

After we got all the students in the group got all of them in circle and doing an exchange introduction with them.

  • Student in a circle exchanging introduction and introduction to the presentation of Mistake mark and making and explaining to the students what we aim for them have as final outcome and how the mmu group aim to get engage with them.
DACA Mistake Mark Making Morning:
The morning at Daca was very exciting for all the student and the member of my group we through enjoyed ourselves. I was feeling rather comfortable in Daca throughout the full morning session has I feel it was probably because my group was very organized on time management, everything was going according to the timetable that we had planned. Also the involvement of the student was working really well, all the students were well engaged into the mark making, all of them were creating really good mark making techniques with use of all the mark making resources, paints and crafts.

These photographs are showing all the morning session mark making activities, and student mark making boiler suits. The photographs also show mmu show students getting involved with the DACA students and creating mark making.

DACA Mistakes Mark and Making Afternoon Session:
The afternoon session at Darwen was a bit stressful as I felt that  all the student were getting a slightly bored of mark making. However during the afternoon we decided to be more creative and turn the workshop into a art and design sports day by playing games with student such as musical bumps, Simons says, twisters and obstacles course these games were still linked with our mark making workshop because as the student were playing the games they were also creating mark making with the paint resources on to the fabric which was layed on the floor.

These photographs shows all the art and design sports day, the games the mini workshops and the mark and making fabric.

DACA Workshop Preperation

Workshop Preparation:
This week we had to present our workshop to the other group of unit x also with Clair and Anna. My group started with giving out the time table for the day of our workshop.
The time table is mainly mentioning about what activities the group will be presenting for the DACA students. Each activity is time managed well, and each mmu member been given a task to be engaged and well involved in the activity  and leading each session.

In This session the full group had decided what task they wanted to know and what mini workshop will we be doing with the students when it comes to group workshop.
Has I am an Interactive art student and I specialise in Photography and Mixed Media. I had decided to take the task of being the workshop photographer to take pictures through the full day in DACA. For my group workshop the Interactive students decided to performance workshop with student but linking it with mark making.

    DACA Workshop Trail Run:
After giving out all the hand outs to everyone we did a trail run on our workshop in DACA.
The trail run went really bad I felt everyone was really confused with what was going on. They was a lack of preparation and organization. The rest the other group students and Clair and Anna could see that we were really confused, so with they help my workshop group realized that it is important to know we gave to work on time table and preparation.

So The next day all the group gathered and had a full day meeting working on our timetable and our workshop activities.

Unit x Key Blog Post 2

Key Blog Post: 2

So far unit x has been an interesting experience, I feel that I have been very interactive during my time in DACA.  Regarding the workshop that my group have to delivery in DACA we had many meeting resolving around the workshop on the activities, games or how we wanted the year 9 students to freely express themselves in art. Throughout the meeting for our workshop they were many advantage and disadvantage to it. The disadvantage to the meeting was my lack of confidence I had found it really difficult to work with group when it come to sharing my ideas, I feel that it particularly my fault as I am not really comfortable with sharing my ideas or working much in groups. However I was really impressed with the idea of how all the group had mark making as a way to express themselves in creative art.the advantage to the meeting was building up my confident, I found this really well that a lot of the group member still have they very own created mark making drawing from their past art and design work. While talking about mark making my confident naturally engaged with the group I shared many ideas of activities which we all can create with the year 9 students. By the group talking about the enjoyment they have in mark making all the group though this was a great idea of turning our DACA workshop from abstracted expression to mistakes mark making. We clearly made our ideas simple for the year nine student easy for them to understand that art and design does not have to be perfect you can always do mistake and be messy and free in art. Another idea from the meeting was that all the group should work with year 9 student and interact with them with inspiring them with our own creative practise for examples textiles mmu student, interactive art student make up they own mini workshop as one of the activities. I strongly believe that this activity was a great idea as it will gave an opportunity to my group of expressing what we all indivualy specialize in.  I am really hoping that our workshop for DACA really work out great for all the student and the teachers there. My Intentions and aim are clear that all mmu student experience a great time at the delivery workshop. Time table for DACA workshop

Before we could delivery our workshop I came across delivering my very own individually micro teaching workshop to the mmu student. However before I can proceed all the mmu students had an examples of micro teaching where we had to follow my unit x tutor Anna instructions and create something from play dough. My creation with the play dough was an inspiration from a ceramics artists called Lindsay Furer. Who I had come across during my college years. I thought of Lindsay Furer because as soon as I touch the play dough I felt like I was touching ceramics clay but softer. As for my own individual micro teaching session I had decided to do an experiment of one the activities from my Daca work shop. One of the activities was to mark make to the music. I wanted to create this micro teaching experiment and hopeful I can develop it to DACA workshop. I feel that my micro teaching experiments went better then I though as the student created really good mark making with the music. However I did receive mixed reviews has some of the students felt that they was too much going on with the music and mark making with eyes closed and opened. Form my micro teaching I do believe that I could have made my PowerPoint more detailed. Overall delivering the micro teaching session I felt positive because my teaching experiment was something that I would definitely talk to my Daca workshop group with and hope not to have the year 9 students as the mmu student felt through my workshop. Overall I am looking forward to my Daca workshop I feel that I am prepared in knowing everything what is going on and all the resources that I need for my workshop.

  • Make the students understand what mark making is and how to express through music in mark making.
Resources:
  • Cardboard
  •  Card paper
  •  Coloured Paper
  •  Tracing Paper
  • Charcoal
  •  Paint Brushes
  •  Pallets
  •  Different Colours of Ink.
Music:
Micro Teaching Delivery:
  • I started my micro teaching session with my presenting my Expressing Yourself Through Mark Making presentation. Explaining to all the students what I feel mark making is and how I express my self through it. I also showed the students what mark making looks like when you have your eyes closed and open through music.
  • After my presentation I gave all the resources to everyone related to my session and clearly explained to all the student to think of a good happy memory and mark make to the music for 3 minutes, I did the same with the students to close they eyes this time and think of a sad memory and mark make to the music.
  • I think so far of micro teaching session went really well I was getting really comfortable with all the students. The only problem that I had was with music I feel that I could have worked better with the music more.
  • By the end of the micro teaching session all of the students had created really good outcome of mark making they had used the resources really well and experimented.
Micro Teaching Session Feedback:
I got mixed review from my session all of the student were happy with all the use of resources and the presentation. However during the mark making sessions most of the feedback the students felt like they was a lot going on with the background music and mark making with closed eyes. The students learned that it is harder to draw to the music. However they had enjoyed the session with ups and downs.

Tutorials session

Tutorial session with Claire:
To day I had a Tutorial session with Claire regarded on my delivering Micro Teaching workshop. I Basically came up with idea on Mark Making to the music for the Micro teaching. I had explained to Claire what my aims for this theme. I aim to have this session as an experiment workshop to help me develop my workshop which is coming in DACA. In DACA my group plans to do a range of activities of mark making to the music. so I plan to see how it goes with as an experiment with my Micro Teaching.
